Our verdict

Muse is the first mainstream personal agent that comes with a free tier, a WhatsApp interface and a privacy design you can read about in detail. The approval prompts, the audit trail and the one-time card at checkout answer the questions people usually have before handing an agent real tasks.

Muse is the personal AI agent Meta launched on September 8, 2026. Unlike a chatbot that only answers questions, Muse is built to do the work: it can open a browser, fill in forms, book travel, check out at an online store, send email once you approve, and keep working after you close the app. You talk to it the way you text a person, in the Muse app on iOS and Android, in a Mac app, at muse.ai, or inside WhatsApp.

Muse asks before sensitive actions such as sending an email or spending money, and you can allow an action once, always, or never. It also keeps an audit trail of what it has done and what it plans to do. Meta says conversations are not shared with its ad systems, and you can tell Muse to forget things it has learned.

It is free with a usage limit. Paid plans are Power at $20 a month and Maximum at $100 a month, which raise the weekly token allowance. Meta says Muse and its subscriptions are in limited testing and not yet available everywhere, and the launch announcement says the US rollout comes first, so check availability before planning around it.

Who it's for

Best for

  • People who want an assistant that actually completes errands such as bookings
  • shopping
  • reminders and form filling
  • and who already live in WhatsApp or on their phone.

Not ideal for

  • Users outside the countries where Muse is available
  • anyone who does not want a Meta account tied to an agent with access to their email and calendar
  • and teams that need a documented enterprise or admin product.

How we tested

AppsInsight desk research by Deepika Pandey, October 5, 2026. Sources: the official Muse page at ai.meta.com/muse, muse.ai, Meta's launch announcement (about.fb.com, September 8, 2026) and the Meta Help Center page on Muse subscriptions. I did not subscribe to a paid plan or run Muse myself, so claims about behavior come from Meta's own descriptions.

What's new

Launched September 8, 2026 in the US on iOS, Android and muse.ai. Meta has since added a Mac app and Muse for Small Business skills and connectors, per its product page.

Key features

Works in the background
Keeps working after you close the app and comes back when something changes or it needs your approval.
Browser on its own computer
Runs on a dedicated cloud machine with its own browser, so it can fill forms, compare options and book things for you.
Chat in app or WhatsApp
Message it like a person in the Muse app on iOS, Android or Mac, at muse.ai, or inside WhatsApp.
Approval before big actions
Asks before sending email or making purchases. You can allow once, always allow or deny, and review an audit trail.
Shopping with one-time cards
Checks out through Link by Stripe, which creates a single-use card so the merchant and the agent never see your real one.
Connectors to your apps
Connects to email, calendar and other services through Connectors, and builds its own tools for repeat jobs.
Memory you control
Remembers goals and preferences to make suggestions, and you can tell it to forget specific things.
Muse for Small Business
A set of skills and connectors aimed at small business owners, listed on the product page.

Key benefits

  • Hands off errands like reservations, budgeting and travel booking.
  • Keeps credentials and card numbers out of the agent's view.
  • Works inside WhatsApp, so there is nothing new to learn.
  • Gives you a full record of what it did and planned to do.
