How AppsInsight Makes Money

Our revenue comes from referral partnerships, disclosed in full here. Money cannot change a score, a rank, an editorial verdict, or a review — the scoring engine has no input for payment.

Live rules Human reviewed Revenue separated

AppsInsight makes money from referral partnerships with some of the software vendors listed in the directory. Money never changes a score, a rank, an editorial verdict, or a review — the scoring engine has no input for payment, and you can verify that in our published rule set.

Our revenue sources

Our revenue comes from these sources, in plain terms:

  • Referral (affiliate) partnerships. When you click “Visit website” on some listings, the link carries tracking parameters that identify AppsInsight as the referrer. If you go on to buy, the vendor may pay us a commission. This never costs you anything and never affects where the app appears on the site.
  • Vendor services. Vendors can claim their listing to keep their profile accurate and complete. Completing a profile can earn the profile-completeness points that are available to every vendor equally — claiming a listing does not add any points by itself.

What payment can never buy

  • A higher AppsInsight Score, or any component of it.
  • A better position in category rankings or leaderboards.
  • A more favorable editorial review, or a faster one.
  • Removal or suppression of user reviews.
  • Removal of factual content a vendor dislikes.

Structurally, this is enforced by the scoring engine itself: every point is attached to a published rule, and none of the rules reference commercial relationships.

How sponsored or promoted content is labeled

IT company listings can appear as Sponsored placements through our advertising system. Sponsored cards are always labeled, live in designated ad slots, and are excluded from organic rank order in their category. The current count of active sponsored listings is published weekly in our Transparency Report.

App directory “Featured” badges are editorial picks in archive slots — not paid placements and not rank inputs. We do not publish advertorials disguised as editorial reviews, and our editors are not told which vendors have referral relationships with us when they conduct reviews.

Affiliate disclosure

This is the canonical affiliate disclosure for all of AppsInsight: some outbound links to vendor websites are referral links, and AppsInsight may earn a commission when you purchase after clicking them. Whether a link is a referral link has no bearing on the app’s score, tier, rank, review content, or placement anywhere on this site. Prices are never higher because you arrived through our link.

Frequently asked questions

Do referral links make apps rank higher?
No. Whether a listing has a referral link is invisible to the scoring engine and to the editors who review the product. Rankings are computed from the published scoring rules only.
Do I pay more if I buy through an AppsInsight link?
No. Referral commissions are paid by the vendor out of their marketing budget; your price is the same either way.
Can a vendor pay to remove a negative review?
No. Reviews are only removed when they violate our moderation guidelines, and payment plays no role in that decision.
Does claiming a listing improve its score?
Not by itself. Claiming lets a vendor complete their profile, and completeness points are available equally to every vendor. The claim itself is worth zero points.
