Free, open-source desktop client for Kubernetes clusters

Free, open-source desktop client for Kubernetes clusters Loupe is a free, open-source desktop client for Kubernetes.
A clear, honest open-source Kubernetes client: kubectl-matching columns, a diff before every apply, per-context read-only and protected modes, no telemetry and no price. It is young (first release August 2026, version 0.1.7) and I did not run it. Desk-research score 3.5/5.
Loupe is a free, open-source desktop client for Kubernetes. It reads the same kubeconfig that kubectl uses, connects to the cluster API server straight from your machine and shows pods, workloads, networking, storage, Helm releases and custom resources in one window. It is built by Varun Kruthiventi under the kryptonhq GitHub organization, licensed Apache-2.0, and written with Tauri: a React and TypeScript front end over a Rust core.
Listings come from the API server’s own table endpoint, so the columns match kubectl get, including for custom resources that were installed a minute ago. Pod views show containers, termination reasons, events and the manifest. Logs stream live with filters, regex, previous-container reading and a merged view across every replica of a Deployment. Edits go through a diff before every apply and conflicts are refused rather than overwritten. Contexts can be marked read-only or protected, and the safeguard is

A shell in a container, port forwards that survive a rollout, scale, restart, cordon and drain are built in. Since v0.1.6 there is also a Problems view and cluster-wide search, and v0.1.7 added a dashboard.
There is no price. The docs say there is no in-cluster component, no operator to install, no service account to create and no telemetry. Loupe holds no credentials of its own: it acts as whoever your kubeconfig says you are, so your RBAC decides what you can see. The code is on GitHub, and Linux packages are GPG-signed.
This is desk research on October 2, 2026: the product site, docs, release notes, the GitHub README and the maker’s launch notes. I did not install Loupe or connect it to a cluster, so I cannot judge speed, stability or how the write safeguards feel in practice. The screenshots on the site use demo data.
The product is young. The first release was August 1, 2026 and the current version is 0.1.7, with 10 GitHub stars when I looked. The vendor says Windows installers are not code-signed yet, and an earlier note listed a container shell as not yet built, which the README now says exists. Treat it as a promising early tool rather than a proven replacement for Lens or k9s.
Ashley Richmond desk research, October 2, 2026: loupe.kryptonhq.com home, docs, installation and release pages, the kryptonhq/loupe GitHub README, and the maker LinkedIn and Product Hunt notes. Loupe was not installed or connected to a cluster. Screenshots are the vendor own demo-data images from its site and repository.
Version 0.1.7 (September 26, 2026) adds the dashboard, Check for Updates in the menu and listings that update on their own. 0.1.6 added Problems and cluster-wide search.
