What is Datanem?

Review document columns before extraction, then export structured tables to Excel, CSV or SQL. Datanem turns PDFs, Word files, plain text, scans and photos into structured tables.

Our verdict

Datanem's strongest documented choice is making the table design a decision before bulk extraction. That can prevent a folder of invoices from becoming a set of differently named columns. Linked tables and standard exports give the result a route into a spreadsheet or database rather than leaving it in a chat window.

The boundaries matter. Schema approval is not an accuracy guarantee, sensitive documents may be processed outside the EEA, and the pricing page disagrees on how longer files count. Review uncertain fields and the batch charge before relying on the output. Shared seats use a common account, not document-by-document access control.

Prepared in Ashley Richmond's editorial voice from the official homepage, pricing, demo, connect/MCP pages, privacy, security and terms on September 30, 2026. Desk research only. No document uploaded, extraction run, API connected, export validated or paid plan tested. Vendor capabilities are documented claims, not hands-on performance findings.

Datanem turns PDFs, Word files, plain text, scans and photos into structured tables. Its workflow starts by sampling the documents and proposing a column design, including linked tables for repeating values. A person can rename, remove or add columns before the rest of the batch is extracted. The official demo shows invoices rather than a generic chatbot conversation. Outputs include Excel with one sheet per table, CSV and SQL; the spreadsheet connector also documents JSON, JSONL and a pandas loader.

Batches accept up to 250 files at 10 MB each. Free files can reach 50 pages, Starter 75, Pro 120 and Max 150. Saved designs, email intake and API access begin on Starter. A database feed can be read by Google Sheets, Excel or Power BI, with a revocable link that should be treated like a password. The MCP server is documented on every plan, including Free, and connects through

Plans are priced in pounds sterling: Free has 20 starting credits and then 10 documents/month; Starter £9/month or £90/year for 150/month and 2 seats; Pro £29 or £290 for 500 and 5 seats; Max £79 or £790 for 1,500 and 20 seats. Business is custom. Pay-as-you-go credits are £0.20 each, bought from 25 upward, do not expire and are used after the monthly allowance. Monthly allowance does not roll over. Pricing copy contradicts itself: a headline says a 20-page contract costs the same as a receipt, but its FAQ and comparison specify one credit per 10 pages rounded up. Confirm the actual batch credit count before running long files.

DATANEM LIMITED is registered in England and Wales. Vendor documents describe EU file/database storage, automatic upload retention of 30/90/180/365 days and no model training. EU storage is not an EU-only processing guarantee: Mistral’s standard inference location is not fixed, and a Cloudflare fallback runs globally. Saved database values persist only when keeping is enabled; deletion also has backup and provider-retention caveats. Team members can see and delete the shared account’s documents. AI output remains a draft for human review.

Who it's for

Best for

  • Teams turning repeated invoices
  • CVs
  • receipts and delivery documents into reviewable spreadsheets; users willing to approve a schema and check extracted data.

Not ideal for

  • Unreviewed automated decisions; strict EU-only inference requirements without a vendor agreement; document-level team permissions; buyers needing settled long-file credit billing.

How we tested

Desk research of official homepage, pricing, public demo, connector/MCP pages, privacy, security and terms on September 30, 2026. No document uploaded, extraction run, API connected, export validated or paid plan tested. Screenshots show public demo with synthetic example invoices, not our test results. Pricing conflict and inference-location limits preserved.

Frequently asked questions

Is Datanem free?
Free offers 20 signup credits then 10 documents per month. No documented timed trial. Starter/Pro/Max have GBP monthly and annual subscriptions, with optional pay-as-you-go credits.
How do long files count?
Official pricing conflicts: headline says a 20-page contract costs same as a receipt, but FAQ/table says one credit per 10 pages rounded up. A 24-page file is three under the FAQ rule. Confirm the displayed batch count before extraction; failed reads are credited back.
Which files and limits apply?
PDF, DOC/DOCX, TXT, PNG, JPEG and WebP, up to 250 files in a batch and 10 MB each. File page caps are 50 Free, 75 Starter, 120 Pro and 150 Max. Over-cap files are rejected before spending credits, per vendor.
Are storage and processing EU-only?
Files and job data are documented as stored in the EU, but Mistral standard inference is not location-guaranteed and Cloudflare fallback is global. Ask the vendor before using it where EU-only processing is mandatory.
Are documents used for AI training?
The vendor says it does not train, fine-tune or evaluate on documents. It opted out of Mistral training, and cites Cloudflare no-training terms. This is a policy claim, not an independent audit.
Can I export or connect a spreadsheet?
Excel, CSV and SQL are documented, plus JSON/JSONL and a pandas loader. A keyed, revocable feed supports Google Sheets, Excel and Power BI. Treat a feed link like a password; anyone holding it can read the database.
